Welcome to the Essex Clerks' Assocation website

The role of the Clerk to the Governing Body of a school is a unique and important one, and clerks need high quality support and advice in order to carry out their jobs effectively on behalf of their schools and the Governing Body.

The ECA website is a forum for clerks to share best practice, including access to our regular briefing papers, legal and best practice guidance, information about the association and model documents and templates.

The Essex Clerks' Association is run by volunteers and financed by subscriptions from schools and/or clerks across Essex and by occasional donations from professional organisations. We are nearing the end of our second successful year supporting clerks across the county and have many more plans for the ECA in its third year, including a focus on quality assurance, which has been highlighted by the demands of Financial Management Standards in Schools, and the new Ofsted framework. ECC Governor Services is supporting us with a significant donation this year, which has enabled the association to offer refresher training for established clerks, facilitate introductory meetings when clerks take up a new position at a school, and support Governor Services in planning the annual clerks' conference which, this year, will take place on Thursday 17 June 2010.
