Looking ahead to September - clerks briefings and induction training sessions
Hopefully everyone is beginning to wind down at the end of a busy school year - the last of the minutes have been distributed to governors and membership lists are up to date!
Before you dust off your bikini and break out the sun tan cream, just a reminder of some key dates for your diaries at the beginning of the autumn term 2010.
Clerks briefings
Sessions will be held, as usual, at centres across the county in early September. The agenda for the briefings will be sent by email (make sure you are on the ECA database) at the beginning of term, and will be posted on the website. The session will include a look at what needs to be on the autumn term agenda, and we will also do our best to let you know what the government is planning for schools and governing bodies in the next academic year! The next ECA briefing paper - focusing on complaints - will be available for distribution at the briefings.
The dates, times and venues are:
Tuesday 7 September 10.00 am - 12 noon Colchester Centre
Thursday 9 September 7.00 pm - 9.00 pm Great Baddow Centre
Friday 10 September 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm Harlow Centre
Monday 13 September 10.00 am - 12 noon Great Baddow Centre
Thursday 16 September 10.00 am - 12 noon Wickford Centre

Clerks' Induction Training
A series of four training sessions are being held in September for new clerks, and for those who would like to refresh and consolidate their understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Clerk to the Governing Body. This invaluable training is free for all agency clerks and for those who work for subscribing governing bodies. The sessions are being held on Wednesday evenings, from 7.00 pm - 9.00 pm, at the Great Baddow Centre, on 8th, 15th, 22nd and 27th September.
To book your place please contact Schools Learning and Development on 01245 434300 or by email schools-ld@essex.gov.uk
