Peter Bates

I've worked in local government for many years, first with Essex County Council and then, until retirement in May 2009, with Thurrock Council, where I was Governor Support Officer. I have a passionate belief in the stakeholder model of governance and the important work that governors - and clerks - do. I have been Clerk to Governing Bodies for more years than I care to remember - including for a period before the 1988 Educations Reform Act! I am currently clerk to three Governing Bodies and also work for the Essex Clerking Agency. In addition I have recently assisted a number of schools and other organisations with particular governance issues.
